Eight Months

She has been busy busy busy this past month! Just two weeks after turning seven months she began crawling. As soon as she figured out how to crawl she began pulling up onto the coffee table, couch, pretty much whatever she can somewhat reach. She's obsessed with our cable box, so much so that I have to block it with pillows just so she will find something more useful to do than play with it!

Her goofy side is really beginning to show. She will often hold something in her mouth while continuing to play with other toys. Making silly faces in front of a mirror is one of her new favorite things to do, as well as talking to her reflection; it's pretty fun to watch. Her new favorite food is spinach! I wouldn't have ever guessed it would be her favorite foo, but it is. I'm glad because since its so healthy for her, and it won't turn her orange.

She's been saying "Dada" a lot, though we're working on her understanding the meaning. Her first official word is "Book," and she understands what it is. Tim was reading to her one day, and said "Book" which she then repeated, more than once too. I managed to get it on video a few days later.

Can't wait to see what this next month brings!

Seven Months

Seven Months. She's closer to being a year old than being born. As much as I love watching her develop and achieve goals, a little part of me is always sad just because its happening so fast.

She's tried lots of different food now! So far her favorite is carrots. She'll even eat peas as long as we mix some carrots in. As you can see in the photo, she has two teeth that have come in! The first popped through around 6 1/2 months, the second was only a week or two after that.

As far as crawling goes, she's thisclose! She's been bringing one knee forward but collapses as she tries to figure out the next step. I have a feeling she'll get the knack of it really soon! She's also sitting up completely on her own now, no more prop sitting! Since she is sitting on her own, I decided to take out the young infant seat of her tub, and allow her to try sitting up in the bigger part.
The whole time she was in the tub she kept moving her leg in and out, it was pretty cute. She also held onto the edge of the tub with one hand the entire time, which is fine with me, makes me a little less nervous. Haha.

The day she turned 7 months, she said "Mama," filling my heart with so much joy. Since then, to my disappointment, she has not said it. She does, however, enjoy saying "Bob" over and over.

Six Months

Height: 26 3/4" (82nd percentile)
Weight: 14 lbs 12 oz (23rd percentile)

I cringed when I opened this photo to edit. I was obviously in a hurry when taking it, so please excuse the horrible uneven lighting! haha.

She has gotten amazingly good at scooting around everywhere!  It has gotten to the point that I need to put her in the highchair for a little bit in order to get some stuff done. She's discovered that she can go under the coffee table, she loves scooting under there and then looking around. She tends to hit her head on it a lot though, so we're going to need to pad it.
Norah is also able to prop sit now, if she wants to use a hand while sitting, she tends to use her left. She's also been getting onto her hands and knees a lot & rocking.
Bubbles are a favorite of hers, if she's cranky I can usually get her to hold out a little bit longer before a nap or bed by blowing some. Plus, its a great tracking activity for her development!

Her favorite book is Hop on Pop, so we make sure to bring it with us whenever we go out, she's typically pretty happy for awhile if she has it.

To celebrate turning 6 months, I introduced her to solid food for the first time. I decided to have her tries peas first, she was not a fan. I'm sure we will find something she likes! She prefers to feed herself, always reaching for the spoon as soon as it comes near. So, it looks like our little girl is going to be little miss independent.

Five Months

As you can see in the photo, Norah loves grabbing her feet. She's brought them to her mouth a few times as well.

My little one has mastered pivoting while she's on her stomach. I love watching her reach all these little milestones, but it's happening just a little too fast for my taste. She has also been scooting quite a bit, I have a feeling she'll be getting into everything once she begins crawling.

I introduced oatmeal to her this month. The first few times she ate it, she couldn't get enough. She was grabbing at my hands to get more, apparently I couldn't feed her fast enough. But, after eating the cereal a few times she apparently changed her mind. After giving her a bite one night, she gave me a look as if I betrayed her. I initially thought she was just caught off guard because it was cold, but she still did not want any after I warmed it up. I didn't push it, just offered it to her once more a couple days later; but she still didn't care for it.

One of her favorite things is to watch and listen to Tim and I whistling, and then attempt to do so herself. She's able to purse her lips together the way they need to be, but she'll either just blow air, or actually make an "ooh" noise. It's really quite adorable, in my opinion.

Four Months

I've got quite a bit of catching up to do! My fieldwork took up so much of my time that I literally had no time to edit my photos, let alone write a blog post. Luckily, I was able to find 5 minutes to take her photo, and I made sure to at least write quick notes in my phone on how she was progressing. So, here's a quick blurb on where she was at 4 months.

Weight: 12 lbs 7 oz (13th percentile)
Length: 25 1/4 (76th percentile)

Norah's four month old check up went great. The nurse gave me a look as if she didn't believe me when I said Norah began rolling back to front, and vice versa, since a few days after she turned 3 months. But after stepping back and watching my little one, she could see that I was being honest and not exaggerating, based on how well Norah was rolling.

She really enjoys attempting to imitate noises that we make, especially raspberries. Although she gets a big grin on her face after attempting to blow a raspberry, she's not really succeeding. She's more so just making a gurgling sound, it's quite cute.

A few days after turning 4 months we decided to put her in her crib, as she was waking quite a bit throughout the night. The transition went very smoothly, and she did begin sleeping better. She still wakes a few times during the night to eat (luckily I have an awesome husband who will get up and bring her to me), but she's still sleeping much better.

We finally got a few laughs out of her this month, though we have to work very hard for it to happen.

All in all, it was a great month!
